MICHELLE BOEHM BComm, DipION
BANT Registered Nutritionist, Registered Nutritional Therapist CNHC and Health Coach
I am passionate about the ways in which diet and lifestyle modifications can support people with their health struggles. Individuals are treated as unique and every aspect of their life from sleep, stress, exercise, relationships to diet and environment is assessed to determine what may be contributing to their ill health. I combine nutritional therapy (the science) with health coaching to help clients achieve their health goals.
I worked in the finance industry for over 10 years, during which I often saw over-worked colleagues suffering from stress, low energy and eventually burnout trying to keep up with their punishing schedules. I too had a very stressful life, managing a large team and working long hours to achieve deadlines. I suffered from severe Premenstrual Syndrome, which affected my life and relationships. This led me on my own journey to find a way to feel better and happier. I visited several practitioners looking for a 'quick fix'. Frustrated by the lack of results, I began taking responsibility for my own health, primarily through diet and lifestyle changes. I started noticing huge differences in my life, having more energy, feeling happier and generally healthier. I started giving colleagues around me informal advice. This is how my curiosity erupted. I learnt first hand that to achieve long term, optimum health, each person needs to be seen as unique, factoring in their personal lifestyle, diet and environment.
I set up Live Better Health to help people on their journey to improved health.
I trained at the London Institute for Optimum Nutrition for 3 years and qualified as a Nutritional Therapist. Nutritional Therapy focuses on the principles of Functional Medicine, this appealed to me as its' focus is on understanding the root cause of the disease and then by addressing the underlying cause, it can restore balance and health. I also trained for 1 year as a Health Coach and am certified through the Health Coaches Academy.
I am an active member of the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT), the professional body for practitioners, promoting high standards of practice and integrity in the profession. I am also regulated by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and certified through the Health Coaches Academy. I continuously keep up to date with current research in an ever changing nutrition world by regularly attending seminars, reading and watching webinars.
